Thompkin Cellars

3ie Degre, Santa Barbara County 2005

50% Syrah, 25% Grenach, 25% Mourvedre.  Thompkin Cellars is dedicated to producing a limited number of premium, small-lot wines, with grapes sourced from select vineyards in Santa Barbara County.  The winemaking style is very hands off once the grapes are picked allowing the character or Terrior in the grapes to shine through in the wines.  When possible the winery uses only indigenous yeasts and the wines are always bottled without fining or filtration.

Robert Parker 90 points: “The 2005 3ie Degre possesses a dark ruby color as well as an attractive perfume of roasted Provencal herbs, and sweet strawberries, cherries, and currants.  Medium-bodied, soft, and silky, this hedonistic red should be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years.
