Leonildo Pieropan

Soave Classico Calvarino 2004

70% Garganega, 30% Trebbiano di Soave.   The Calvarino vineyard is the original parcel of the Pieropan family homestead and has been bottled as a single vineyard wine since 1971.  The soil is volcanic in origin, rich in basalt and tufa.

Gambero Rosso-3 out of 3 glasses, “This wine is grown on basaltic soil, which gives it a natural minerality.  Delicate floral and apple fruit on the nose precede a dry, gutsy, tangy and impressively long palate.  It is so long on the palate that we simply couldn’t deny three glasses.
