Peirson Meyer
Chardonnay Sonoma County 2005
A joint project of Robbie Meyers and Alain Peirson. Unlike the L’Angevin vineyard designated wines made by Peirson and Meyers, this Chardonnay is a selection of the individual barrels that make up the Heintz, Laughlin and Russian River bottling. There is great Burgundian style minerality alongside a nose full of pure California fruit, a viscous texture in the mouth and a long balanced finish. The wine was barrel fermented with 100% malolactic fermentation. It was aged 16 months in barrel on its lees and bottled unfined and unfiltered. One note, after an hour or so to open up, the nose shows a heady aroma of butter popcorn like a Batard-Montrachet, beautiful!
Robert Parker 94: “…this wines has the same richness and complexity as the Heintz(L’Angevin) but seems to have even better integration of all its component parts, cutting a broad swath across the palate. Should drink well for 3-4 years.”
