Orin Swift

The Prisoner, Napa 2006

51% Zinfandel, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah, 6% Petit Sirah, 6% Charbono, and 2% Grenach.  This is a big full-flavored California red that is very food friendly.  The nose is sweet, ripe and fruity with dark cherry, plum and blackberry aromas, a bit of smoke, and with hints of anise, vanilla and coffee.  The palate mimics the nose with a silky texture and a long finish.  The previous vintage earned the #17 spot on Wine Spectator’s top 100 wines of 2007 and this 2006 vintage is even bigger and more exciting that the last.  Delicious juice!
