Martin Ray

Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County 2005

100% Pinot Noir from vineyards in the cool coastal area of the Santa Maria Valley.  Due to the inland flow of fog and coastal breezes into the valley, this is one of the coolest wine regions of California, ideal for Pinot Noir.  The winemaking at Martin Ray is Burgundian in style with little manipulation of the wines.  They prefer to let the character of the region shine through as the high point of their Pinot Noir wines.  This wine shows ripe raspberry and strawberry with a subtle oak influence and a lush texture and good balancing acid.  Martin Ray Winery was named ‘Winery of the Year’ by Wine and Spirits Magazine in 2005.
