Larochette Manciat

Pouilly-Fuissé Les Petites Bruyères 2005

A rich polished gold color is followed on the nose by pear, green apple and white currants with an overlying flinty-mineral quality.  The entry on the palate is especially rich and viscous for a Pouilly-Fuissé with flavors of butter pears, red apples, white pepper and a bit of cream.  Delicious, with concentrated fruit and great underlying structure to keep the wine clean and balanced.  This is not the simple light bodied wine Pouilly-Fuissé is generally associated with, there is much more character here, more reminiscent of the wines of the Côte de Beaune.

This family domaine has been producing fine Burgundy wine for five generations.  It is currently run by Marie-Pierre and Olivier Larochette who are dedicated to producing wines which showcase their terrior.  The wines are made in traditional Burgundian fashion with aging on their lees in oak barrels.  Drink this delicious wine with all manner of seafood and poultry.
