Kanonkop

Pinotage, Stellenbosch SA 2004

100% Pinotage from up to 60 year old vines, bush trained to limit yields.  No irrigation is used in order to encourage a more concentrated fruit.  The wine is matured in new, medium toasted, French Nevers oak barrels for 16 months.

Serve with, Quality Pinotage is a great match for red meat, however it is also one of the few red wines capable of keeping its composure in the face of spicy Asian influenced dishes. 

IWC 90(+) points, “Deep medium ruby.  Sexy aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, leather and bitter chocolate.  Sweet, sappy, round and rich, with dark berry and mineral flavors complicated by an intriguing saline character.  This superb pinotage boasts terrific fruit and thrust on the back end.  Tannins are ripe and broad.  Should be long-lived.”
